Lindsay Lohan Officially Cast In Robert Rodriquez's 'Machete'
Actress' hints on Twitter confirmed by Variety. After Lindsay Lohan's last film grossed a not-so-whopping $7.5 million and she retreated to the comfort and relative anonymity of a TV-movie, it was beginning to look like the former teen starlet's glamorous career had ground to a halt. But Robert Rodriquez has given her another shot at the big screen.
As Lohan tweeted this week, and Variety confirmed on Thursday (August 6), the 23-year-old actress will appear in Rodriquez's upcoming film, "Machete." The movie is an expansion of a fake trailer that appeared within his 2007 flick, "Grindhouse."
"Lindsay's cool," Rodriguez told MTV News at Comic-Con last month. "There's actually a cool part in the movie for her — if she takes it."
It seems she did. Earlier this week, Lohan hinted on her Twitter account that her new blond hair was for a film role. Later, linking to the "Machete" page on IMDb.com, she wrote, "Something was made official today!!!!!!!!!"
The original trailer follows the story of a Mexican immigrant nicknamed Machete (Danny Trejo) who is hired to assassinate a U.S. senator, only to be double-crossed and nearly killed himself. Machete ends up seeking revenge on his enemies by kidnapping the senator's family and slicing, stabbing and blowing up every bad guy he can find.
At Comic-Con, Rodriguez, who is co-directing the film with Ethan Maniquis, told us that thus far he'd only cast Trejo and Michelle Rodriguez. But the casting process proceeded swiftly, and production began this week. The Variety report does not indicate which supporting role Lohan will have, but it seems possible she'll play the corrupt senator's daughter.
Joining Lohan, Trejo and Rodriguez, according to the magazine, is an eclectic cast of current and former Hollywood heavyweights: Robert De Niro, Jessica Alba, Steven Seagal, Cheech Marin and Don Johnson.
"These things come together very quickly," Rodriguez said at the Con. "I was thinking it had to live up to the trailer, because the trailer was so well received. But [the script] far surpassed the trailer."

That's the question law enforcement officials are reportedly asking after responding to a break-in call from Lohan's home security company, reports TMZ.com.
Law enforcement sources said that around 3 p.m. yesterday, they responded to a call from the home security company, saying there had been a break-in at Lohan's luxurious L.A. pad.
When police arrived, they found evidence of forced entry — there were pry marks on the back door and tampering with the back window.
After review, it appeared nothing had been taken, police said. But the house had been completely ransacked.
At least, that's what cops thought at first. According to TMZ, a law enforcement insider later said that it doesn't look like the house was ransacked after all—it's just incredibly messy.
Lohan was not home at the time of the reported break-in and the LAPD has launched an investigation.

I’m used to celebrities getting wasted, making fools of themselves and larking around.
But what I witnessed at London’s Cuckoo nightclub this week was beyond anything I’ve ever seen before.
Step forward fallen movie star Lindsay Lohan who was on the table next to me at the Swallow Street venue.
I watched open-mouthed as Linds sat with her straggly hair all over her face looking strangely detached from the world and mumbled: “I feel so, like, caged. Totally caged.”
Unfortunately, the creepy behaviour continued as Lindsay and her posse visited the bathrooms.
My spy tells me: “She just wouldn’t stop saying she felt caged. She was just not all there and it really was like watching a broken girl in the middle of a complete breakdown.

“She spent much of the night furiously texting Sam Ronson – and wasn’t best pleased about the texts she was getting.
"Everyone with her was actually very concerned about her. She seemed like a girl on the brink of self- destruction.”
And there was even more cause for concern when Linds returned from the loo.
My jaw once again dropped as Lindsay – who had a vodka in hand throughout the night – squirmed around as if trying to hide in a ball on the floor.
Maybe this bizarre behaviour has something to do with on/off girlfriend Sam as she’s believed to be the real reason behind Lindsay’s visit to the UK.
Even after two years of going in and out of rehab, it seems like Linds has a long way to go before she’s back on track!
